Simon and Imogen

Imogen

After a very busy six months or so, I wanted to take a brief moment to reflect on the most important news from 2013 so far.

I became a father.

Our daughter, Imogen, was born on June 15, 2013. We have found it to be every bit as momentous an occasion as people lead you to believe, and we’re loving parenthood so far. As someone who tries to fit as many things as possible into the average day, it has been quite an adjustment for me, but I am loving the new challenges and responsibilities it brings.

In the run up to the birth, we were able to do some major home improvements, building an office extension and a utility too. It was a lot to take on in the second half of a pregnancy, however Lorraine has the persistence of a T-800, so the work was thankfully all completed in time. Plus, at least now the kid has somewhere to sleep, and that’s definitely recommended in almost all parenting books.

Imi (as we call her), is now more than six weeks old, and already out of her first clothes. Apparently it’s a girl’s prerogative to refresh her wardrobe each season. As for me, I’m now back to the grindstone, developing all kinds of creative projects that I hope will see daylight in 2013/2014. No matter how hard I try though, I suspect Imogen will remain my best work.
