Isolated from the outside world, all that’s left to do is kill time. For some, the only way to make friends is to grow them…
Killing Time at Home was funded by the Channel 4 television scheme Mesh and was produced by Blackwatch Productions. The short was first screened on Channel 4 in November 2003 and has since been shown on television numerous times and at film festivals worldwide such as Annecy, Resfest and The British Animation Awards. It won Best 2D/3D animation at Le Festival des Tres Courts in Paris (2004), and was runner up at the Discreet Animation award at Soho Shorts (2004). Fans of the band Placebo may have seen this film prior to their performances during recent world tours. Killing Time at Home also features on the 2004 British Animation Awards DVD.
Killing Time at Home was written and directed by Neil Coslett. I composed and performed the music. The challenge was to try to achieve a very simple, lo-fi indie garage band sound whilst still serving the drama of the story.
