US-Canada road trip

By Simon Barber on June 9, 2012 — 1 min read

In a couple of weeks, i’ll be making a short reprise of a trip I made back in 2010, during which I drove across the United States from Boston to Seattle with my wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. This trip is much shorter and takes in some of Canada as well, but it should be a lot of fun to be back on the open road.

The plan is to spend about a week in New York, before hiring a car and driving north to Montreal. We’ll then cross to Ottawa and on to Toronto where we will spend a few days before heading to Niagara Falls. Finally, we’ll head south into Detroit and across to Chicago for a bit. We will drop off the car in the Windy City and fly back to London from there.

This time, our travelling companions, Viva VHS and co, will not be joining us, due to the recent arrival of MiniVivaVHS, so this trip will be a chance for my wife and I to spend some time cruising the highways, taking in the culture, and no doubt eating at the many burger chains available to the discerning road warrior.

We intend to enjoy many of the wonderful sights on offer in these great cities and relish some movie and music heritage as well. However, I won’t be blogging this trip on a daily basis as with the Crossing the States project. I’ll probably do some Flickr sets and perhaps a single blog here upon my return to sum up the highlights. After all, I’ll be too busy lookin’ good.
