Prince

Prince radio documentary broadcast on Xfm

By Simon Barber on April 28, 2011 — 1 min read

Xfm pays tribute to this groundbreaking album with another in their series of hour-long documentaries created by the brilliant radio producer Sam Coley. I contribute in the programme as one of the interviewees alongside Prince keyboard player Matt Fink (aka Doctor Fink), Brett Anderson (Suede), Brent Fischer son of arranger Clare Fischer, S-Endz (from Swami), UK broadcaster Bobby Friction and British TV legend and massive Prince fan, Bill Oddie.

Parade was Prince’s 1986 follow-up to Around the World in a Day and the soundtrack to his second film Under the Cherry Moon. The album revealed a complex new jazz influenced sound, featuring lush orchestral arrangements (from Clare Fischer) and a very European flavour. Parade featured the number one single, ‘Kiss’ along with key tracks like ‘Girls and Boys’, ‘Anotherloverholenyohead’, and ‘Sometimes it Snows in April’. It was also the final album that Prince released with the Revolution.
